Marie Marie by words and music Ben Sures
Marie Marie The devil in me Has taken you for a ride
He’s Never been much for sticking around The glue wears off, and he drives Marie Marie
Marie Marie The contract is torn Leave your soul and depart
The signature’s faded And it won’t stand up There were loopholes from the start Marie Marie
The house on Balmoral is fading away All dust and memory , all ground no play We’re standing like salt pillars, but we cannot stay
Marie Marie angel and servant you were the advocate true
pointing at facts but stuck with a jester the devil’s in the shadows, it’s true Marie Marie
The house on Balmoral is battered and worn declared historic, we are forlorn its hard to let go, of rooms where you loved

Postcards
04:09
|
|||
I wanna fly away it’s true Fly across the ocean blue See something that’s brand new Do a lot of walkin’, and thinking too send a postcard back to you
I wanna hear a different tongue Get some sight and seeing done Eat a lot of different foods Drink some drinks and act the fool send a postcard back to you
I want to do something brave Be the man that made the save Fearless with a heart that’s true Not be the jerk you’re married to Send a postcard back to you
I wanna have a wild romance Learn to do a killer dance and the art of passion play Be the one that got away Send a postcard back to you
Stuck here in this office chair Dreaming circles feeling square The marriage doesn’t bring me down Its being stuck here in this town With no one to send postcards to

Winnipeg

I Don’t think about Winnipeg
or Bella Vista Girls
All those waitress legs
that showed me their world
or Sherbrooke Street and Welfare Moms
Whose kid’s pull chalk out of there shoe
I don’t think about Winnipeg
but it sure does make me blue
The late great blue note diner
Greg and a chainsaw on the stage
yea the owner bumming cigarettes
and coming on to our dates
we all complained behind his back
but that place was half our life
I don’t think about Winnipeg
but it cuts me like a knife
The last time that I did mushrooms
the first girl I ever dumped
now every sidewalk whispers back at me
and calls me names like chump
all the good and gents people
who took or threw their lives away
I don’t think about WInnipeg
but it haunts me everyday

Holes
03:39
|
|||
There is a hole in the bucket,
a hole in the ozone
a big big hole in the lonely man’s bed
Hole in the donut, hole in the forest
holes in the tummies of the kids not fed
Holes in the streets where the poor folks live
holes in the hearts where love has failed
holes in your skin so your skin can breathe
holes where the fish used to swim in the sea
Holes in the ears, Holes in the eyebrows
the nose and cones of the honey bee
Holes for diggin, holes for piercing
all kinds of holes we do and do not need
If a hole needs love, love should fill it
if a hole needs air thats where air should be
If there's no love and there's no air
these holes are just holes
thats all they be

In Burma
03:53
|
|||
Its your choice to take a chance, on drinking from a still
To take a walk through traffic, you might catch a thrill
Every bit of medicine you choose to take the pill
Maybe you won’t get killed
in Burma
If the Junta doesn’t get you, The cyclone will
A mighty man might come along and shoot you in the face
you could have a heart attack running in a race
get a disease, sleeping in the wrong place
Maybe you won’t get killed
in Burma
If the Junta doesn’t get you , The cyclone will
try a new diet stick a finger down your throat
Perform a criminal act on an old farmer’s goat
Choose to live on land or on a BC house boat
Maybe you won’t get killed
In Burma
If the Junta doesn’t get you , The cyclone will

Used to Have a Raygun
04:56
|
|||
Used to have a raygun, it was good for everything
Never had to deal with problems, Like other human beings
It was no ordinary Raygun, didn't just shoot to kill
It could change reality, and even bend wills
I really loved my Raygun, I really really really did
say I wanted you to like me, or forget what I just said
Dial up the setting, and point it at your head
It overpowered embarrassment, made mean people dumb
even vaporized traffic, the whole world was more fun
But Something happened to my raygun , commenced to acting up
Wouldn't finish what it started, I think the trigger got stuck
Then I had to be careful, what I said and what I did
There were no easy solutions, no more point shoot and fix
Now I'm stuck here on this planet, I can barely breathe the air
Wish I still had my raygun, I'd blast my way off of here
I was gonna build a death ray, I just lost heart
I don't have a laboratory, its hard to find parts
Its hard to find anything ,its hard to get along
Hard to make friends, its hard to belong

Where are they now
03:27
|
|||
Everybody has one
pops in their head
we wonder where are they now
are they living or dead?
living or dead
It might be you
they think about
maybe you ‘re the one that got a way
the one that makes them cry or pout
Where are they now
are they overseas
Where are they now
Other side of the rainbow
where are they now
do they think of me
Where they are now
Once there was a French girl
Her eyes were clear
She was on an exchange
we exchanged for a year
Where are they now
are they overseas
Where are they now
Other side of the rainbow
where are they now
do they think of me
Where they are now

Maybe
03:08
|
|||
Maybe the prettiest girl will give you the eye
Maybe you'll end up caressing the skin on her thigh
Maybe you will. maybe you will
Maybe you will. maybe you will
Maybe you'll fall off a ladder and hit your head
Maybe the blow will leave you entirely dead
Maybe you will. maybe you will
Maybe you will. maybe you will
The clouds might even part for you
Children may even gather leaves
We'll all sing and dance with Eves
Love will come and be true
Maybe you'll have everything that you ever dreamed
Maybe you'll even come up with the perfect scheme
Maybe you will. maybe you will
Maybe you will. maybe you will
But a Maybe is only a maybe there's no guarantee
No guarantee of what maybe will turn out to be
Yeah maybe oh maybe your maybes will all come true
Some of them do
Some of them do
Some of them do
Some of them do
Well I'm going to the fair that's for sure
And I'll ride on every ride I can see
I'll eat til I have my fill
Yes I will, yes I will
Yes I will, yes I will

Everybody Matters
03:46
|
|||
All around the world, every human being
Has a start and a false start, an end and a beginning
whether a bone to pick or seed to sow
there is one thing that I know
what you choose to do or not do
this is one thing that is true
Everybody matters
Everybody matters
Even you
The Concubine, the Creole maid
The one who calls a spade a spade
The drinker drinking in the bar
the dreamer staring at the stars
The cook who burns all the meals
The dad who can’t say what he feels
the fat kid on the fat farm,
the salesman with all the charm
Everybody matters
Everybody matters
Even you matter too
the bum with the shopping cart
the redneck and the pop tart
the bully in the schoolyard
the porn star working hard
the man who cheated on his wife
the robber with the kitchen knife
the hooker at the edge of town
the drummer who keeps slowing down
the peacenik and the fascist
the slowest and the fastest
the mailman, the store clerk
bartender and the soda jerk
the dancer with the left feet
the girl that doesn’t eat wheat
the rich and the royal
the clean and the soiled
dicator and the diplomat
bald guy in a big hat
the comic book collector
the soviet defector
the drunkard and the teetotaler
the bluesman and the mountain yodeler
the one who gave the plot away
the other who just couldn’t stay
the pirate and the sailor
the mother and the jailor
the winner and the failer
Everybody matters
Everybody matters
Even you matter too

Any Precious Girl
04:28
|
|||
my little sister went running into the street bare naked,
the paramedics came and took her away she was just being creative
the ambulance arrived for a crazy woman dancing in the street with no
clothes all they took away was my baby sister the clown with out her nose
every day is a full moon
every day is a full moon
every day is avoiding a padded cell for any precious girl born without a
shell
my father flew in to help with the refit the cleaning her apartment
there was paint everywhere in their clothes and in their hair I think they had
a good time
all of his kids are exactly the same we live in the extremes we have crazy
love affairs do weird things to our hair we walk around in dreams
every day is a full moon
every day is a full moon
every day is avoiding a padded cell for any precious girl born without a
shell
When you don't fit in to the world you know you make do with what you can
yeah read poems in the street go shopping in bare feet
make castles in the sand
my baby sister is happy now
same as before if she remembers to eat she'll be a little more discreet
stick to naked dancing indoors and
..every day is a full moon
every day is a full moon
every day is avoiding a padded cell for any precious girl born without a
shell
